"Protection is
better than treatment", this wisdom doesn't applied only on human health
but it is right also for his surroundings. Care for laptop like care for tooth.
There are simple ways to protect your laptop before you lost it. Just read the
following 10 steps of protection:
1. If you have an electrical power
source, use the battery charger coming with your laptop and remove batteries
especially if these batteries are full charged. Use the batteries only if you
have not an electrical power source. Some companies like ASUS, SONY and TOSHIBA
say "no problem if you use the battery charger in presence of full charged
batteries" and other companies like HP says "you have to remove full
charged batteries if you use the electrical power source you may lost your
batteries".
2. Don't leave your laptop on Sleep or
Hibernate status. In these two cases, only RAM's are stopped but the processor
is operating continually. This may lower the performance of your laptop. If you
want to close your laptop, terminate your running applications then shutdown
your computer.
3. Pressing strongly on the touch pad
lead to loss its sensitivity which is the main factor of its operation. Kindly,
move your hand on the touch pad and use its right and left buttons to do your
task. Also, don't press on the touch pad with dirty fingers and then clean the
dirty area, this lead to loss another part of sensitivity which may damage your
touch pad.
4. Moving the screen back and forward
may damage the screen and affects the laptop hardware because the screen is
connected to the main mother-board with precise joints, these joints will move
with the screen moving.
5. Clean your laptop continuously to
prevent accumulation of the dust inside it. Laptop has more vents for speakers,
touch pad, and keyboard. You have to use the suitable cleaning liquids to clean
the screen, don't use perfumes.
6. To keep the temperature of your
laptop hardware in the safe range, let air go inside your laptop through its
vents. Some users work with their computers on the bed or on their bodies, this
will close the ventilation ports existing in the bottom of laptop and then
damage the inner components.
7. The laptop fan is the most important
cooling method of your laptop, observing the working of this fan keeps your
computer cool continuously. You have to know if this fan is working properly or
not and also if its sound is normal or not. You can download many programs that
control and observe the working of the cooling fan to protect your laptop from
damage. If you find the fan isn't working properly, this fan must be replaced
immediately.
8. Leave a sufficient disk space of
drive C (Operating System drive) for the operating system and installed
applications. This space may be between 30 and 100 GB according to your
operating system and application programs.
9. It is very important to install
anti-virus program on your laptop to protect it against any dangerous attacks
especially when you are connected to internet. Also, you have to update this
anti-virus program periodically because these malicious viruses can reach to
your private information and also destroy your laptop components.
